Charlottetown Chosen to Host Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, September 9, 2014 – The City of Charlottetown has been chosen as one of 25 communities across Canada to host Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour.

The celebration will include a weekend of free outdoor hockey festivities for all ages, culminating in an outdoor viewing party of an NHL game broadcast every Sunday, with Ron MacLean hosting live onsite from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio. The tour will arrive in Charlottetown on January 18, 2015.

“We’re thrilled to be selected as one of the communities for the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour presented by Scotia bank and Dodge,” said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. “There’s no doubt that Charlottetown is an iconic hockey destination. Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to host many, major hockey events. The Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour will create a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy two days of festivities and the best our city has to offer in the winter months. We hope everyone will join us for the celebration.”

Each week during the 2014/2015 NHL season, the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour will roll into a different community across the country for a jam-packed weekend of interactive games, activities and entertainment for the whole family.

“The passion for hockey in this country is unrivaled. Every Canadian has a connection to the game – it is part of our DNA, it is part of our communities,” said Ron MacLean, well-known Canadian Sportscaster. “We’re excited to share in this season-long celebration of Canada’s favourite pastime, help grow the game and bring to life those great hockey stories every Sunday.”

The Sunday matchup on January 18, when the tour reaches Charlottetown, will be Arizona at Montreal.
