Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island to host the 2019 National Dodgeball Championships
April, 2018
In conjunction with Dodgeball PEI and the SCORE initiative, Dodgeball Canada will host the 4th Annual National Dodgeball Tournament and Tryout in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island early 2019. Men and women’s teams from across the country will travel to the east coast to compete for the title of Canadian champion.
Dodgeball Canada is a federally-incorporated not-for-profit organization that represents thousands of dodgeball players across the country. The organization consists of members from Victoria to Halifax, and many points in between, and aims to create a community of athletes of all levels. The organization holds an Executive seat in the World Dodgeball Federation. We represent over 10,000 players with programs in Youth development, Women’s leagues, High-Performance divisions, and LGBT communities.
“Dodgeball PEI is immensely honoured to have the privilege and opportunity to host the Canadian Dodgeball Championships in 2019,” said President of Dodgeball PEI, Matt Lawrence. “Our dodgeball community here on the Island has been active for ten plus years and yet while our numbers are small – we make up for it with passion and dedication to the sport. We look forward to this opportunity and cannot wait to host and showcase this country’s best in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.”
“The City is excited to be working with Dodgeball PEI and Dodgeball Canada to execute and host the 2019 National Dodgeball Championship, and proud to have lead the bid on behalf of Dodgeball PEI through our sport tourism initiative SCORE to help make it happen,” said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. “Hosting this Championship in the early Spring brings many benefits to the Capital region, particularly given that it’s during the shoulder tourism season.”
