Charlottetown to Host Premier Fast Pitch Championship in 2014
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, April 18, 2013 – The City of Charlottetown and its sport tourism brand, SCORE!, are pleased to announce that the provincial capital has been named host city of the 2014 Senior Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship.
“We are very excited to be working closely with Softball Canada once again and look forward to welcoming participants and fans back to Charlottetown for the Senior Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship in 2014,” said Mayor Clifford Lee. “Our success in securing the hosting-rights to such a prestigious national championship reinforces our capacity to host major sport events. Events such as this one offer enhance tourism, economic development, investment in infrastructure, while providing an opportunity to showcase what our great city has to offer.”
As the premier and most sought after Softball Canada event, the Senior Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship will bring together some of the best men’s softball athletes in Canada. Attracting over 200 participants, along with fans from across the country, the week-long event will be held from August 26 to 31, 2014, with all competition play taking place at Central Field Complex.
“Softball Canada is very pleased to be partnering with the City of Charlottetown once again,” said Mike Branchaud, Manager of Canadian Championships for Softball Canada. “The City has a strong history of hosting major sporting events and with a great volunteer base, an experienced Hosting Committee, an outstanding venue, and a very good Senior Men’s team, will all play key factors in the success of this showcase event for Softball Canada. We are excited to be back in 2014 and look forward to another highly successful event in PEI.”
Charlottetown previously hosted the event in 2010 and is excited to welcome Softball Canada and event participants back to the capital city in 2014.
