Ottawa, ON, March 31, 2015 — The eight recipients of the 2015 PRESTIGE Awards (Program Recognizing Exceptional Sport Tourism Initiatives, Games & Events), announced today by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA), were celebrated by their peers in Toronto at Canada’s largest annual gathering of sport and tourism professionals, event managers and industry suppliers, Sports Events Congress 2015.
The 9th edition of the PRESTIGE Awards take on even more meaning in 2015, Canada’s Year of Sport.
“Each of the PRESTIGE recipients, finalists and indeed the PRESTIGE Luncheon sponsors, are building Canada’s reputation as a world-leader in sport tourism—a highly competitive market which contributes an impressive $5.2 billion dollars to the Canadian economy annually. The PRESTIGE Awards Luncheon unites Canadians from coast to coast in order to celebrate the vision, community building and leadership that excellence in sport tourism requires. The CSTA congratulates the recipients and all the builders that fuel Canada’s sport tourism industry,” said Rick Traer, CSTA CEO.

The CSTA was pleased that many high profile athletes and sport media were in attendance at the PRESTIGE Awards luncheon including: Jennifer Hedger, TSN Sportscaster who hosted the luncheon and athletes Elena Bales, modern pentathlon; Kelly Fitzsimmons, modern pentathlon; Chelsey Gotell, swimming; Andrew Haley, swimming; Eleanor Miller, athletics; Anastasiya Muntyanu, gymnastics; Anjelika Reznik, gymnastics; and Samantha Sendel, trampoline.
